Junior Golf Programs
The Greg Jones Golf Academy is second to none when it comes to offering an educational, fun, exciting and unforgettable junior lesson experience. Our instructors are exceptional at teaching juniors to improve and excel, build confidence, and learn what they need to build a successful golf game. We have a highly proven track record with junior golfers, being able to take them from their current level to any level they have the desire and talent to achieve. Our program is rated one of the best in the country, offering excellent instruction along with one of the best practice programs in golf. Parents consistently comment that they have seen vast improvements in both their child’s interest in the game and their skill in playing.
Junior Fundamentals 1
Mondays, starting June 21 (4 weeks)
Junior Fundamentals 1 is designed for golfers, ages 6 and up, who are new to the game or are looking to build solid fundamentals that will form the basis of their success in the game of golf. Junior Fundamentals 1 will focus on:
Basics of Grip, Aim, Stance, Posture
Building a swing;
Chipping and putting basics
General rules and golf etiquette.
Junior Fundamentals 1 is held on four consecutive weeks, with one of hour of instruction each week.
Junior Fundamentals 2
Wednesdays, starting June 2, 2021 (5 weeks)
Junior Fundamentals 2 is designed for junior golfers ages 6 and up. This series builds on what was presented in Junior Fundamentals 1 and will focus on:
Review of fundamentals
More in-depth look at the swing, putting, and chipping
Rules and etiquette
Students who enroll in Fundamentals 2 must have completed Fundamentals 1 or successfully demonstrated proficiency at the Fundamentals 1 level through testing.
Junior Fundamentals 2 is held on five consecutive weeks, with one of hour of instruction each week.
Junior Fundamentals 3
Wednesdays, starting July 7, 2021 (5 weeks)
Junior Fundamentals 3 is designed for junior golfers, ages 6 and up, who have a basic understanding of golf fundamentals and the swing, and are looking to build and improve their game. This series will focus on:
Short and mid-approach shots
Students who enroll in Fundamentals 3 must have completed Fundamentals 2 or successfully demonstrated proficiency at the Fundamentals 2 level through testing.
Junior Fundamentals 3 is held on five consecutive weeks, with one of hour of instruction each week.
Junior Fundamentals 4
Junior Fundamentals 4 will take your junior golfer to a new level in their game. In this class, we will be not only focus on mechanics, but will also teach your junior golf course management and how to approach the mental side of the game.
Students who enroll in Fundamentals 4 must have completed Fundamentals 3 or successfully demonstrated proficiency at the Fundamentals 3 level through testing.
Junior Fundamentals 4 is held on five consecutive weeks, with one of hour of instruction each week.
The Academy Junior League and The Academy Junior Golf Tour
Academy Junior League held on first 4 Tuesdays in June (June 1, 8, 15, and 22), and first 3 Tuesdays in July (July 6, 13, and 20)
Academy Junior Golf Tour events held June 29 and July 27.
The Academy Junior League is a fun, competitive league open to junior golfers (boys and girls) of all abilities in Grades 6-12. The league will be held on the first four Tuesdays in June and the first three Tuesdays in July at Bunker Hill Golf Course. Players will be divided into three divisions based on ability. A point system used for scoring will be in place to ensure equitable competition.
The Academy Junior Golf Tour is a tournament open to all golfers (boys and girls) in Grades 6-12. Tournaments will be held on the last Tuesdays in June and July at Bunker Hill Golf Course. Players will be separated in to three divisions (Par, Birdie, Eagle) based on handicap. Par Division will play 9-holes, while Birdie and Eagle Divisions will play 18 holes. Scoring will be based on the a point system to ensure equitable competition.
The Academy Junior Golf Tour is a separate event from the Academy Junior Golf League. Participation in the league is not required to play in the tournaments. Additionally, our league golfers are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the tournaments.
Junior High Club Team
Initial Meeting held on August 9, 2021
The Junior High Club Team program is an intensive learn-and-play program for junior high golfers who are committed to improving their games and playing competitive golf in high school. This program will prepare our club team players to make the high school team and, hopefully, help them to step right into a varsity spot as freshmen.
Open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade golfers from any school district, with some exceptions for younger golfers with high skill levels. All club team members will participate in matches, learning programs, and weekly practice rounds. Additionally, the golfers will be given practice programs to complete on their own each week. Club team members will play several home matches and have the opportunity to earn spots on our travel team to play against other club teams and schools.
Junior Short Game Clinic
This intensive clinic will help your junior lower their scores by improving their scoring shots. Each week we will focus on a different aspect of the short game – chipping, pitching, and putting. This program is open to all juniors, Grades 5-12.
The Junior Short Game Clinic is held on three consecutive weeks, with one hour of instruction each week.
